Meet My Tribe: Maria Pia

Just before our grand opening party back in January, 2016, I met Maria Pia (MaPi.) I was in ugly sweats covered in paint, mopping the studio floors, when this cute girl knocked on the door. She had been searching for a yoga studio to call home and a mutual friend had told her to check out Yogaleena…. so she did. We immediately connected over our  South American heritage (she’s from Bolivia), our time living in  Florida, and our love of yoga – but those similarities were just the peak of the iceberg. Since then, MaPi has become a close friend who I rely on wholeheartedly. It makes no sense, I’ve known her less than 2 months and yet I feel like our souls have known each other a long long time.

MaPi teaches our Vinyasa Basics class Saturday mornings. She has an incredibly gentle way of sharing the practice of yoga that really leaves people understanding what this is all about (hint: it’s definitely not about standing on your head.) I learn from her every time we sit down for a cup of tea, and I am so excited she’s part of our tribe.
