Few things are sweeter than having a mom-daughter pair in my yoga classes, and lucky for me, the Cerdedo and Brashier ladies show up pretty regularly to brighten my day! In honor of Mother’s Day, I asked these four lovelies to share a little bit about their practice and their relationships, here’s what they had to say:
Cathy & Katie Cerdedo
If you could describe your relationship in one word, what would it be?
What do you admire most in your mom? What do you admire most in your daughter?
Katie: I admire my Mom’s strength. She’s always been an inspiration to me when it comes to how gracefully she handles difficult situations in life.
Cathy: I admire her never quit attitude and always smiling face not matter what day she has had.
Who started doing yoga first and why did you think your mom/daughter would like it as well?
Katie: I think I started doing yoga first, but my mom started doing yoga first at Yogaleena. I had been telling my mom about how much I liked doing yoga so I think that’s why she sought out Yogaleena and once I came with her a few times, I was hooked too!
Cathy: Katie started first. I was unhappy with my current gym exercise so Katie suggested yoga.
Has practicing yoga together brought you closer?
Katie: Yes! Yoga is the reason we touch base in person at least once a week and it’s nice to share that with my mom.
Cathy: We have always been very close so yoga is a one more thing we both enjoy together.
What’s your favorite yoga pose and why? What’s the most challenging?
Katie:My favorite yoga pose is the tree pose. I like that it forces me to be present while also being relaxing. The most challenging for me is side angle pose (I think that’s what it’s called), I’m working on my arm strength, so that pose is a challenge!
Cathy: I don’t know the name of the shoulder stretch.
What other activities do you love doing together?
Katie: We like going shopping and eating together!
Cathy: Going to movies, shop, play cards with family, and talking on the phone at the end of our day.
