So…what’s the difference between a Yoga Pod and a Yoga Class?
1. Studio pods are limited to 8 students in order to offer more personalized instruction and individual attention.
2. Studio and Virtual Pods follow a curriculum of poses or themes during a semester to ensure you’re not only practicing, but learning every week. Each pod’s focus and curriculum is different so you can get your anatomy fix one day and dive into Ayurveda the next!
3. Most pods are 75-90 min to allow time for questions, workshop-style learning, individual assists, and discussion.
We have a wide variety of amazing Pods available, so which one is right for you? Well, it depends! Although all of our pods include an intentional asana practice, meditation, and discussion, the style of practice and focus of each pod is different.
Our Yoga Pods all fit under one of 4 categories of interest:
Functional Movement & Asana
The focus of these pods is anatomy, biomechanics, and strengthening your asana practice!
Our Radiant Rest pods offer students a weekly opportunity to nourish their bodies through gentle movement, pranayama, and Yoga Nidra,
Although these pods include a physical flow-style practice, our focus is on the energetic effects of our movements and how our time on the mat translates to more joyful and fulfilled lives off the mat.
Pods and events in this category offer students a deep dive into the core Ayurvedic principles that form the foundation for healthy digestion, restorative sleep, and beautifully balanced life.
Although you can attend any pod on any given week, we encourage you to pick 1-3 pods that you can consistently commit to. This format is intended to provide a cumulative path to growth in your practice and foster meaningful connections among students in each pod.
FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT PODS
FLOW, FLIP, FLY
Our Vinyasa Flow pods are designed for students interested in taking their vinyasa flow practice to the next level! With a focus on proper form and alignment, our weekly sessions will give students the opportunity to build the strength, flexibility, and body awareness necessary to safely try deeper backbends, arm balances, and inversions.
Each 90 minute session will incorporate a full flow practice, dedicated time to “workshop” a new pose, transition, or skill, guided pranayama (breath work) and a deeply relaxing savasana/meditation.
These Pods are best suited to students who are familiar with the foundations of Vinyasa Flow. All props will be provided. Please bring your mat, curiosity, playfulness, and sense of humor!
FOUNDATIONS OF FLOW
If you love to flow but prefer a less intense experience on your mat, our Foundations of Flow is perfect for you! With a focus on integrating breath with movement, this Pod offers newer students a strong foundation from which to grow, and experienced yogis the opportunity to refine their practice by slowing down and paying attention to the subtle effects of each pose.
Each weekly 75 min session includes a blissful asana practice, dedicated time to dive deeper into a specific pose or transition, and soulful discussion on the theme of the week. All props will be provided.
Modeled after the Asana Labs that form the foundation of our own 200-hour teacher training program at Yogaleena School, this pod gives students the opporutnity to break down one pose per week and learn how to practice it safely in their own bodies.
The 90-min format of this pod leaves ample room for playfulness, discovery, questions, and of course, restorative savasana at the end.
FIT & FUNCTIONAL: HATHA YOGA FOR WELLBEING
Haha yoga is a challenging yet slower paced practice with little to no “flow” between poses.
The primary focus of these pods is to improve balance, strength, posture, and flexibility. Using a variety of props, we’ll work to restore the natural alignment of our physical structure, calm the nervous system, and reinvigorate the subtle body.
Discussions will be centered around anatomy, alignment, and longevity, and there will be ample time for questions during practice.
No prior experience necessary. Please have 2 yoga blocks, a yoga sutra, and a yoga blanket available if joining virtually.
GENTLE YOGA FOR LONGEVITY
Our yoga practice is available to support us at any level or stage of life. In this all levels pod we’ll explore slow, safe, accessible, alignment-based practices and connective tissue work. These practices allow us the opportunity to meet ourselves exactly where we are and find avenues to create space, sustain or grow mobility and strengthen balance. Each week we’ll explore different asanas and areas of the body with an eye towards strengthening not only the physical body and breath awareness, but neural pathways and neural plasticity as well.
RADIANT REST PODS & EVENTS
RESTORE & RENEW: YOGA THERAPY PRACTICES FOR BODY & MIND
VIRTUAL MOONLIT YIN
Yin Yoga focuses on the deeper yin tissues of our ligaments, joints, deep fascial networks, and bones. Yin tissues are more plastic than elastic: unlike muscles, they respond to gentler pressure applied for longer periods of time in order to be stimulated. The goal in Yin is to yield to each pose and to be present with discomfort that might arise in body and mind. Poses can be held anywhere from 2 to 5 minutes.
Each week, students will experience a deeply relaxing yin practice designed around a specific theme and enjoy dedicated time to reflect and journal over a cup of tea.
LOVELIGHT YIN & CHI
Love-light: (n) The radiance of affection.
As part of the Radiant Rest series at Yogaleena School, Lovelight Yin + Chi is a magical offering of Yin yoga blended with elements of Tai Chi. Practitioners will cultivate their unique inner and outer radiance through the art of slowing down, self-compassion, and deep connection with the body and its energy channels.
VIRTUAL UNWIND & NOURISH: EXPLORING THE CHAKRAS
SOUND BATH WITH UNWIND MEDITATION STUDIO
A Sound Bath is an immersion in beautiful sounds and vibrations that are healing for your body, mind and spirit. Vibrations and sounds produced by singing bowls and tuning forks can “tune” your body, mind and spirit back into alignment.
Join us monthly for this deeply relaxing, meditative experience which can take you on a journey of deep relaxation, healing and self discovery.
SOULFUL CONNECTION PODS & EVENTS
SOULFUL FLOW: MOVING THROUGH THE YAMAS & NIYAMAS
This Fall, our weekly themes will center around exploring the Yamas & Niyamas, which are the first two limbs in Patanjali’s 8-limbed yogic path. Far from religious commandments, these guidelines serve as the foundation for cultivating more peace, love, and joy in our lives, and are incredibly applicable to modern times.
THE SHIFT: MEDITATION & INTENTION SETTING AT GENARA
This is a monthly invitation for community building, guided meditation, intuitive journaling, and intention setting. The Shift takes place at Genara, a beautifully designed shop of curated goods for intentional living.
NEW MOON RITUAL
The New Moon is a powerful time for introspection and realignment. This monthly ritual will consist of a delicious and mindful flow practice accompanied by essential oils, a crystal bowl meditation to recalibrate your energy body, and intuitive journaling to help you set meaningful intentions for the rest of the month.
VIBRANT LIFESTYLE PODS
YOGA & AYURVEDA FOR INNER HARMONY
Ayurveda, yoga’s sister science, has a lot to say regarding our modern lifestyles, and how they are wreaking havoc on our sense of connection – to the Earth, to each other, to ourselves. This pod offers students a deep dive into the core Ayurvedic principles that form the foundation for healthy digestion, restorative sleep, and beautifully balanced life.
Each 75 min session will include a flow practice, guided pranayama and meditation, and discussion on an Ayurvedic topic each week.
MIND, BODY, SPIRIT: GENTLE YOGA & MEDITATION FOR MODERN TIMES
We all know by now that the benefits of mindfulness and meditation are many, and that these practices can really help us manage stress and cultivate joy in our lives. However, they are not easy to integrate into our busy schedules and often get left out of our more physical practice on the mat.
This pod gives students the opportunity to move their bodies and dedicate time to restoring balance in the mind though a variety of contemplative practices. Each week will focus on a different mindfulness or meditation technique which we will practice together and discuss.
